Weekend Recap: Storm Dominate at Home, Battle Hard in Nottingham
Saturday: Manchester Storm vs Fife Flyers
The Manchester Storm kicked off the weekend in emphatic fashion, securing a commanding 6-2 win over the Fife Flyers at the Shelter on Saturday night. In a game where momentum shifts played a key role, it was Tyler Hinam’s shorthanded goal that proved to be the turning point, swinging the energy in Storm’s favour and setting the tone for what followed. The offensive depth was on full display, with Alexis D’Aoust and Craig Martin both registering two points to help extend the lead.
Defensively, Storm kept Fife’s opportunities limited, while in net, David Tendeck continued to showcase his elite form. The goaltender delivered another stellar performance, highlighted by a remarkable double save in the third period that drew a roar from the crowd and shut down any hopes of a Flyers resurgence. His efforts between the pipes earned him Player of the Match honours, capping off another impressive showing.
Sunday: Nottingham Panthers v Manchester Storm
With momentum on their side, Storm headed into Nottingham on Sunday looking to complete the perfect weekend. It was a tightly contested battle against the Panthers, with both teams trading chances in a physical, fast-paced encounter. Despite a strong effort, Storm fell 3-1 on the road, unable to find the finishing touch needed to break through a stubborn Nottingham defence.
One of the standout moments came courtesy of Dallas Ehrhardt, who produced a highlight-reel goal, cutting through the Panthers’ defence and finishing with precision to give Storm a lifeline in the game. Despite pressing hard in the final stages, Nottingham’s defensive structure held firm, handing Storm a frustrating defeat to close out the weekend.
Looking Ahead: A Huge 48 Hours
With last weekend in the books, the focus now shifts to a pivotal back-to-back stretch that could have major implications on the playoff race. It all begins Friday night at home against the Belfast Giants (7:30 PM face-off), a game that promises to be another intense battle as Storm look to defend home ice against one of the league’s top sides. With the playoff push in full swing, the team will need the fans’ continued support to create the kind of atmosphere that makes the Shelter such a difficult place to play.
