The Manchester Storm organisation would like to give an extended ‘thank-you‘ to all in attendance on Saturday 14th October against Sheffield Steelers as we celebrated our earliest ever SOLD OUT Storm Shelter!

Our pre-season began on Saturday 16th September 2023 and in just one calendar month we’ve seen over 10,100+ visitors inside the Storm Shelter.

Just our sixth fixture of the season and only the FOURTH fixture of the competitive campaign saw fans pack the Storm Shelter to watch a thrilling match-up between the two rival clubs. Despite losing the tie, Manchester put up a fight and clawed back from 3-0 down, to 3-3 with 7 minutes remaining in the game! A short-handed goal from Sheffield took the wind from the sails and sadly The Storm couldn’t capitalize on the huge momentum swing to secure the win in-front of the sold out crowd.

The sold out crowd is a testament to the hard work taking place off the ice but also attributed to the hard work Head Coach Matt Ginn and GM Ryan Finnerty have worked to put together an exciting, competitive team together in the summer which see’s the side sit third in the league table as it stands, just 1 point from top spot.

Head Coach, Matt Ginn commented on the raucous crowd: “The crowd was outstanding on Saturday night as it has been all season. The guys fed off that noise and energy. Although it wasn’t the result we wanted, the guys showed a lot of character and fight by coming back against a very good Sheffield team before ultimately coming up just short in the end. Hoping to see everyone back and another packed Storm Shelter this weekend!”

Director of Operations, Liam Hesketh continued: The plan we devised prior to the 2021/22 season is now really coming into fruition. Last season we saw consistently bigger crowds than we’d previously seen and were delighted with the progress, but now we’re really seeing the impact as we continued to trust the process. Although seeing the Storm Shelter sold out is worthy of a celebration, the hard work doesn’t stop there, we go again this Sunday against a strong Cardiff Devils side and with the players feeding off the atmosphere, we’re hoping to have another capacity crowd and with the fans help, have the biggest and most successful season yet.

An incredible effort so far from the best fans in the league and we’ll see you all once again this Sunday as we battle for more league points on home ice!
