Your Goodwin Group Manchester Storm were outlasted by a battling Glasgow Clan 6-5, in overtime.

The hosts produced an exceptional opening period of hockey and were good value for their 3-goal lead after just one stanza.

A snipe from Gagnon at 5:35 opened the scoring for the Storm, with helpers going to Hope and Critchlow. The second goal eventually followed, despite Patrick Killeen thwarting multiple goal scoring chances for the Storm. It was a fortuitous bounce of Simmonds’ skate that took the puck over line at 12:52.

Fisticuffs between Gagnon and Springer soon ensued, as the ex-Storm man tried to spark his Clan team mates.

The Storm quickly converted their third goal on a powerplay opportunity at 18:27, when a pin-point pass from Aulin was emphatically finished off by Ehrhardt.

The second period was a cagier affair with significantly fewer goal scoring chances created at both ends of the ice. Although, the visitors did eventually claw themselves back into the game through  LaPorte at 26:53, on the powerplay.

The period appeared to be meandering towards its conclusion until an exceptional piece of play from Ulmer and Aulin drew double coverage. This gave Ehrhardt all the time in the world to pick his spot, his slap shot blew by Killeen to extend the hosts lead to 4-1.

An early goal from Glasgow in the third period made things interesting again, as LaPorte was on-hand to bat home his initial attempt. The hosts lead was cut further when Beca slotted the puck between Ginn’s pads at 45:58.

However, the Clan’s momentum was halted when Thompson scored a short-handed goal on the breakaway.
