STORM TAKE FIRST WIN OF 2025!

A significant game in terms of league positions unfolded between Manchester and Glasgow, with the Storm deservedly taking both points in a 4-1 victory.

A goalless opening period passed with very little to note, as both teams tentatively settled into the game on a frosty Friday night at the Shelter. However, the hosts opened the scoring after 24 minutes of action when Hughes reacted quickest to a loose puck in front of the Clan net. Just over a minute later, Martin doubled the Storm’s advantage, racing in from the wing and clinically finishing over Bow’s blocker. Glasgow’s top line combined well to pull the visitors back into the game, with Heard confidently slotting the puck past a helpless Weninger midway through the second period. The Canadian shot-stopper responded with a stunning save, catching the puck behind him after it had ricocheted off the crossbar from an initial attempt.

After a slow start to the campaign by his usual high standards, Weninger showcased his brilliance again in the 51st minute. He made a spectacular coast-to-coast save to deny Glasgow a crucial chance, signalling a return to his best form. Moments of brilliance weren’t limited to goalkeeping, as Storm fans witnessed another contender for “goal of the week.” Hughes displayed exquisite skill, executing a slow deking move to outmanoeuvre the Clan defence before expertly flicking a backhanded effort into the top corner after 53 minutes, restoring Manchester’s two-goal advantage and completing his brace. An empty-net goal from Critchlow eliminated any late doubts, securing a vital victory for Manchester in an increasingly tight race for the play-off spots this season.
