STORM SCORE 7 TO TAKE THE CLAN!

A marker lay down by the Storm saw them sweep aside a shell shocked Clan, 7-3, with a wonderful team effort.

Storm burst out of the traps and deservedly took the lead in the 4th minute, courtesy of a trademark Hinam snipe as he skated in from the wing. The advantage was quickly doubled when Hebert pounced on a rebound to jam it under Bow in the Clan goal. The hosts were unfortunate not to extend their lead further, as a dominant opening ten minutes had the Scottish visitors pinned deep in their own zone. However, an unfortunate minor penalty against Storm allowed Glasgow to convert on the powerplay, with Seigo firing one in from the point through traffic. Just 44 seconds later, Ulett shrugged off his marker to restore Storm’s two-goal cushion heading into the first intermission.

The triple H line of Hinam, Hebert, and Hughes knew it was time to play the game in the 26th minute, as the latter slotted home from close range for this lines third goal of the evening. The Clan responded soon after through former Storm skater Hazeldine, whose slapshot beat Weninger to cut the deficit back to two goals, on the man advantage. However, a brilliant individual effort from Hughes, netting his second of the period, replenished Storm’s three-goal lead heading into the final twenty minutes.

A precise pass from Hughes found Hebert at the back door, capitalising on a major defensive breakdown by the Clan, as Storm easily netted their second powerplay goal of the evening in the 46th minute. Furthermore, two-thirds of the triple H line were on course for their first Storm hat-tricks. The Clan responded with their third powerplay goal in as many opportunities, scored by Sideroff in the 49th minute, giving the travelling Scottish fans a glimmer of hope that their long Friday night trip might yet be rewarded with league points. However, Hebert would indeed complete his hat-trick, with Hinam unselfishly squaring the puck for him to seal a terrific individual and team performance with an empty-net goal. A 7-3 Storm victory.
