Storm Celebrate International Women’s Day

On Saturday 8th March, the Manchester Storm took the occasion to celebrate International Women’s Day. Her Game Too joined us as our Official Match Night Sponsor, handing out free hoodies to the crowd and Prevent Breast Cancer were in attendance for our annual Pink the Rink night fundraising for a cause very dear to our hearts.

Her Game Too created a memorable evening for fans. The organisation, which aims to tackle sexism in sport and encourage more women to engage in all levels of hockey, made their presence felt in the Shelter. They distributed free hoodies to the crowd, spreading messages of equality, support, and empowerment. Their presence was a powerful reminder of the ongoing need for inclusivity in the sports world and the continued effort to ensure women are equally represented and supported.

This year’s International Women’s Day also coincided with the return of our annual Pink the Rink weekend. The Storm kicked off the festivities with a charity pub crawl in Altrincham on Friday, raising funds for Prevent Breast Cancer. On Saturday, the charity also joined us in the Shelter offering fans the chance to donate and show their support for the cause. We are proud to announce that together, our Pink the Rink weekend raised an impressive amount, showcasing the community’s unwavering dedication to an issue that impacts countless lives.

As we reflect on International Women’s Day, the Manchester Storm would like to take a moment to honour the women who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make the club and team what they are today. From the front office staff to our volunteers and medical professionals, these women dedicate their time and effort to ensuring the Storm continues to thrive on and off the ice.

Their contributions often go unnoticed, but they are absolutely essential to the club’s operations. Whether it’s through administrative support, marketing, medical care, event planning, or team logistics, they work hard to support not only the team but also the loyal fans who pack the Shelter for every game. These women are the backbone of the Manchester Storm, and their hard work ensures the club’s continued success.

Here’s an insight into just a few of the many incredible women working at Manchester Storm:
