Manchester Storm are excited to announce the signing of forward Stephen Johnson, most recently of Wichita Thunder (ECHL). 

The 27-year-old Canadian first developed his hockey skills with junior side (QMJHL) Moncton Wildcats – representing them from 2012 to 2016. Johnson’s final two years were as the Wildcats captain – in sides which included current NHLers: Conor Garland, Zack MacEwen and Ivan Barbashyov. In 226 QMJHL appearances, Johnson tallied 119 points (49G 70A) before progressing with his education at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. 

The forward would again spend four years in the same location – going on to make 119 USports appearances and amassing 76 points (31G 45A) in the process. In 2020, Johnson upped with Wichita Thunder and would remain with them until the end of the 2021-22 campaign. As a result, Johnson will arrive in Manchester with 89 professional games and 47 points (16G 31A) to his name.

“Stephen is a forward with excellent skating ability and whose work rate is second to none. He takes huge responsibility in handling the puck and enjoys finishing his checks – which is particularly important in our rink and across the league. 

All the reports back on him have indicated his team-first mentality and willingness to contribute on both sides of the ice. I am delighted to have him wearing the Storm jersey for the 2022-23 season.”
