Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back in Elite League action this Saturday as the Edinburgh Capitals travel to the Storm Shelter for a 7:00 pm faceoff.

It’s a busy run of games for the Capitals, who travelled to Coventry and Milton Keynes mid-week, facing the Blaze on Wednesday and the Lightning on Thursday, losing both games 7-1 and 7-2, respectively. This was on the back of a tough weekend for Edinburgh, losing 5-2 against both the Panthers on Saturday and Milton Keynes on the Sunday. Juris Upitis and Mike Cazzola grabbed the goals on Saturday, and Dillon Lawrence and Cazzola getting the goals on Sunday. There was more bad news for the Capitals mid-week, as Julius Nyqvist, Taylor Stefishen, and Duncan Speirs leaving the club. Storm come into the game after a mixed weekend, beating Fife 3-2 at home on Saturday but going down 6-4 in Guildford on Sunday. Dane Byers, and Mike Hammond scored against the Flyers to secure both points, while a Beca double and goals from Moffatt and Hanson were not enough against the Flames.

It’s the second meeting of the season between the sides. The first matchup was a tight affair in Murrayfield two weeks ago. Dane Byers got the scoring underway in the second period, grabbing his second goal of the season. Dylan Anderson evened the game up on the powerplay, also in the second period before Luke Moffatt put the Storm ahead 2-1 before the second period was out. Shane Bakker put the game to bed with a goal late in the third period, his second goal of the season.

If the last meeting between the sides is anything to go by, this Saturday’s game should be another close game, make sure you come along to cheer on the guys as they look to get back to winning ways.

One to watch: Mike Cazzola was the ECHL’s top rookie pointscorer last season for Fort Wayne Komets, and earned a 3-game callup to the AHL’s Binghamton Senators. The skilled forward is scoring at over a point-per-game this season for the Capitals.
