Dane Byers returns to Captain the Storm for the 18/19 season after a first season with us where he impressed with both his hockey and leadership ability as an assistant captain.

He came to the Storm in 17/18 after a season in Germany’s DEL playing for the Cologne Sharks. Byers was a 2^nd round NHL draft pick by the New York Rangers in 2004 and played in the NHL for both the Rangers and the Columbus Blue Jackets .

Born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Byers career has spent the majority of his career in the AHL, playing 564 games for some of the league’s top teams. Byers is known as a strong skater who likes to use his size on the ice and lead by example.
