MATCH REPORT: STORM 2-1 GIANTS (AOT)

The Goodwin Group Manchester Storm produced an excellent display to take two points from the visiting Belfast Giants, in a nail-biting overtime.

A slow-start to the opening stanza saw both sides struggle to create any real goal scoring opportunities. However, at 10:10 the visitors would take the lead through Curtis Hamilton’s five-hole finish, the assists going to Liam Morgan and Ben Lake.

It took until the 35th minute for the hosts to draw level with powerplay specialist, Ulmer tapping in a Aulin pass, with the second assist on the play going to Hughesman. Just a couple minutes later, two heavyweight skaters dropped the gloves, as Mathieu Gagnon and Jean Dupuy went toe-to-toe in an evenly contested battle.

The third period saw both sides shut down by two very effective D corpses and the vast majority of the shots were from a distance. It would take overtime to separate the sides, as a mix-up infront of Shane Owen’s goal left Aulin with an empty net to fire into.

This overtime win leaves the Storm unbeaten at home and in the league (2-0), as they currently sit joint first in the EIHL standings.

Man of the Match: Jared Aulin (Storm) Curtis Leonard (Giants)
