Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm return to the Storm Shelter this Saturday 10th February for a huge Patton conference clash against the Guildford Flames that faces off at 7:00pm.

The Storm and the Flames have moved into first and second in the Patton conference, opening up a bit of a gap between themselves and the Lightning and Blaze who occupy third and fourth. The Flames still have a number of games in-hand over the other sides, and sit in second with 18 points from just 13 games. The Storm are 5 points ahead of the Flames, having played 17 games in total. A win for either side would be massive in their quest for the conference title.

The meetings between the sides this season have all ended in favour of the home side; Storm winning their 3 games at home and the Flames winning the solitary match at the Spectrum. The Flames have the slight edge, gaining a point in Altrincham earlier this season. Mike Hammond, Matt Beca, and Dane Byers have top scored for the Storm against the Flames. Hammond has scored 4 goals and 5 assists in the 4 meetings, Beca and Byers have 7 points each. 6 of Byers’ points have been assists. John Dunbar leads the Flames in scoring, with 1 goal and 6 assists, while defencemen Calle Ackered and Jesse Craige have grabbed 6 and 5 points, respectively. In nets, Mike Clemente has saved 101 Flames shots, conceding 15 goals for a goals against average of 3.72 and a 87.1% save percentage. Chris Carrozzi has started 3 games against the Storm, making 77 saves with a 86.5% save percentage and a goals against average of 4.02. Brian Stewart is now back from his long-term injury, and has been sharing the starting role with Carrozzi recently.

Both sides are coming into the game after a 4-point weekend, Storm beating Coventry and Sheffield, scoring 16 goals in the process, while the Flames beat the Lightning and the Blaze. Storm beat Coventry 9-1 on Saturday at the Storm Shelter before beating the Steelers 7-5 away. EIHL player of the week Dane Byers picked up 7 assists over the weekend, in addition to 3 goals. The Flames beat the Lightning 5-2 on Saturday and followed this up with a 7-4 victory over Coventry on Sunday. John Dunbar picked up 7 points over the weekend, scoring 2 goals and assisting on 5.

One to watch: After a 7-point weekend John Dunbar comes into the game continuing his early-season form that sees him second in the league’s pointscoring charts, with 18 goals and 44 assists from 39 games.
