Manchester take on Sheffield this evening in the final ‘regular’ season fixture of the #2021EliteSeries! The final day of round-robin action at the 2021 Elite Series still sees everything very much still to play for.

While Sheffield have already secured top seeding for the playoffs, the battle for position underneath them is going down to the wire. Manchester will know what they need to do before stepping on the ice, with the key Nottingham vs. Coventry game taking the earlier slot.

Here’s a breakdown of today’s scenario:

• A point for Coventry confirms them in second – this is because they have a superior record in the first tie-breaker of ‘Regulation Wins’ (3) that cannot be matched
• A regulation win for Nottingham confirms them in second – Manchester could still catch them on 13 points, but the Panthers have the better Head-2-Head Record (tie-breaker iv)
• If Coventry vs. Nottingham is won by the Panthers in overtime or a shootout, Manchester would have to beat Sheffield in regulation to avoid finishing fourth (thereby having more regulation wins than Nottingham to go ahead on the tie-break)
• Were Nottingham to lose in regulation, Manchester would still need a point to finish third as they currently lose the tie-breaker with the Panthers (tie-breaker iv)
