JOHNSON HEADS BACK TO MANCHESTER FOR SECOND SEASON
PRE-SEASON: Tickets for our pre-season fixtures on Saturday 16th September and Wednesday 20th September are available online HERE, by calling 0161-926-8782 or in person at the Planet Ice Box Office!
Manchester Storm are excited to announce the return of forward Stephen Johnson.
The 28-year-old Canadian forward had an impressive debut season in the EIHL – posting 41 points (15G 26A) in only 50 club appearances.
The top-six skater impressed the Storm faithful with his forechecking tenacity, work-rate and puckhandling abilities. The former ECHL player (with Wichita Thunder) settled into the Mancunian way of life and was eager to return to the Shelter for another campaign.
Johnson will be re-joining several familiar faces in the Storm locker room, as Matt Ginn aims to maintain his core players and bring in further talent from the outside.
Head Coach Matt Ginn had this to say about securing the services of Johnson for another year: “Stephen was a key member of our team last season both on and off the ice. He logged big minutes and was a big part of our success. He’s great on the forecheck by using his skating ability and his tenacity to hunt pucks. I think Stephen was unlucky last season at times around the net and expect more to fall for him this season. I’m thrilled to have Stephen signed for the next 2 seasons. I’d like to also thank the North Wales Management School for their support.”
Fan favourite, Stephen Johnson added; “I’m very happy to be signing back in Manchester for the next 2 seasons! I can’t wait to get started and see all the fans back in the storm shelter in September!”
