Manchester Storm are thrilled to announce the signing of forward Loren Ulett, most recently of Kansas City Mavericks (ECHL).  

The heavy-hitting forward played for Streetsville Derbys; Cobourg Cougars; Kingston Frontenacs and Trenton Golden Hawks in the OJHL from 2010-2015. This five-year spell in the juniors saw Ulett tally 74 points (29G 45A) and 533 PIM’s in 181 games – with a nod to his playing style already in the making.  

Ulett opted to continue his education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology; during this time, the forward played on 64 occasions, scoring 17 goals and adding 14 assists.  

In 2018-19, Ulett would make his professional debut for Birmingham Bulls (SPHL) before being loaned to his eventual full-time employers, Kansas City Mavericks (ECHL).  

From this loan, Ulett would stay in Kansas until the completion of the 202-23 season. This five-year spell in ECHL saw the forward rack up 507 PIM’s in 251 matches, alongside 70 points (34G 36A). In his final year with the City Mavericks, Ulett’s leadership ability was recognised with the addition of the A to his jersey.  

The upcoming EIHL season will be his first year of hockey outside of North America and Matt Ginn had this to say about his newest recruit: “Loren plays a very heavy and hard nosed game. He skates very well and has a bomb of a shot. I have no doubt he will instantly become a fan favourite with his physicality. Loren is great on the forecheck finishing checks and causing turnovers. I expect him to contribute at both ends of the ice and I’m happy to add him to our group.”

The hard hitting forward had this to say: “I’m very happy to have signed in Manchester this season! I’ve heard so many great things about the team and the city. After a short conversation with my agent and Coach Ginn, I knew this was where I wanted to play this season! I can’t wait to get the season started and get rolling!”
