Fife Flyers 7 Manchester Storm 0

It was bad night for the Manchester Storm as we fell 7-0 to an impressive Fife Flyers team in EIHL action.

The first saw the Flyers run ahead with an opening goal within the first 5 minutes thanks to R. Dingle. This was followed shortly after when J. Fox slipped one through the pads of Mike Clemente whilst on the power play. A third goal followed shortly after, scored by Dingle, before the end of a period which saw Storm go end to end, but have no luck in getting the puck past Owen in the Flyers net.

The second saw much the same, as the Storm were on the receiving end of another 3 goals, this time scored by Paquet, Stockton, & Moyer respectively throughout the period. Despite this, the Storm had their chances in front of the Flyers goal & failed to capitalise on a 5 on 3 powerplay, and were once again only denied getting on the score sheet by Owen.

Phil Spanswick replaced Clemente in net for the start of the 3rd, and despite being the official backup netminder, worked hard to keep it a 6 goal game, but was beaten with just 1.6s left in the game when Justin Fox popped home for the home side. The Storm, who were much improved on the first two periods, were once again denied by Owen, whose performance would have been worthy of the MOM award in any other game!

All in all, a disappointing performance on the road, but the team get the chance for retribution in today’s home game vs the Nottingham Panthers (5.30pm), in a game that if the Storm win, will push us a step closer to Challenge Cup qualification.
