Manchester, [Thursday November 30th, 2023] – Manchester Storm Ice Hockey Club is pleased to reveal changes within our ownership structure which we believe heralds a new and promising phase for the franchise. 

Following a commendable 6-season tenure with the club, Jamie Tunstall expressed his desire to step down from the directorship at the conclusion of the 22/23 season, citing a focus on family as his primary motivation. Jamie helped lay the foundations in Manchester for a successful franchise and all at the organisation would like to thank Jamie for his efforts and wish him luck in his future endeavours. 

Fronterra Ltd, a new business led by Emma and Ryan Finnerty, emerged as the majority shareholder. Fronterra have also collaborated with a minority partner, Springwood Sports Investments, a Canadian based sport investment organization led by Gord Simmonds. Gord’s industry experience includes 11 years as the majority owner of the Ontario Hockey League’s Belleville Bulls (2004-2015) and four seasons as minority owner of the Hamilton Bulldogs (2015-2019). He sat on the Ontario Hockey League’s Board of Governors for 15 years and the OHL’s executive committee for six years.

Bringing on a Canadian group with deep experience in owning and operating a CHL franchise and with connections in Canada makes them an excellent choice of partner to help shape our destiny.” commented Ryan Finnerty, Storm Director and General Manager. 

The team has continued to see record attendances in the first half of the 2023/24 season and would like to express thanks to all the fans for such outstanding support – we believe the club is now in a stronger position to grow the Manchester Storm brand and progress our goals of being counted amongst the top franchises within the Elite Ice Hockey League.
