Storm gain point in Kirkcaldy Manchester Storm 3 at Fife Flyers 4 (OT) Your Go Goodwin’s Manchester Storm picked up their first point from the weekend’s three-game Scottish road trip but were denied a second point by an overtime Fife Flyers winner.

Storm started slowly in a fiery Fife Ice Arena and went behind when Brendan Brooks snatched a short-handed opener for Fife at 6:30, and Fife doubled their lead midway through the second period when Chase Schaber scored on the power play.

Storm’s response was swift, Jack Prince adding to last weekend’s hat-trick by squeezing home after good work from Mark Heatley and Trevor Johnson. At 11:35 in the second period, the game was stopped after interference by a home supporter at the Storm bench. The fan was ejected but Eric Neilson was awarded a match penalty in the aftermath.

Storm came out strongly after the stoppage and quickly tied the game, Cody Cartier picked up a Heatley pass and fired past Shane Owen with the game four-on-four. Heatley has five assists in his last three games.

Fife restored their lead just fifteen seconds into the third period, Sebastien Thinel slotting in from close range. Storm pushed for an equaliser and were rewarded at 52:43 when Darian Dziurzynski (assists: Bissonnette and Johnson) capitalised on some sustained pressure following a delayed penalty call.

Despite chances at both ends, the game headed to overtime with the score locked at 3-3. Storm ran into penalty trouble early in the extra period and Flyers took advantage, Ric Jackman firing home with Storm down 3-on-5.

Storm end their three game road trip on Sunday night against the Edinburgh Capitals at Murrayfield (face off 6pm) with the Dundee Stars the next visitors to the Storm Shelter on Saturday 28th January – face off at 7pm.
