Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm let 2 points slip through their hands after we went down 5-4 to the Braehead Clan after leading for much of the game!
The first period saw the Storm take an early lead when Darian Dziurzynski, fresh off his return from injury, popped one past Russell in the Braehead net, much to the delight of the Storm Shelter crowd. The lead didn’t last for long however as Matt Keith of the Clan equalised seconds later which is sure to anger Coach Pacha with the team switching off mentally straight after getting a go ahead goal. The Storm responded well however, and after some sustained pressure in the Clan zone, we saw Cody Cartier grab goal with just over 2 minutes remaining in the period!
The second period saw Matt Bissonnette double the Storms lead early on to give the Storm a 3-1 lead. Fast and free flowing hockey followed from both sides, however it was the Clans Corey Cowick who was able to cut the Storms lead to 1, with minutes to go in the middle period.
The third period saw a much improved Braehead side take to the ice, and Clan D man,Trevor Hendrikx was finally able to tie things up for the Clan. Just over a minute later however, the seesaw score line continued when Matt Bissonnette grabbed his second of the evening, just for Scott Pitt to once again equalise for the visitors seconds later. Matt Beca however, was the villain of the night, scoring the Clans 5th and game winning goal, 7 minutes from time, much to the disbelieve of the Storm fans in the Shelter.
The Storm now look ahead to our second game of the weekend, as we host the Fife Flyers tomorrow night (Sunday), Face-Off at 5:30pm. It’s time to go grab those 2 league points.
