Storm take the win in a tense overtime thriller. The visiting Flyers had the dream start, scoring within the first three minutes, when Osterberg was found all alone in-front of the Storm net and one timed an accurate pass from Pavlovs.

The Storm responded positively with some physical forechecking play. This pressure paid dividends as Johnson converted from close range, on the powerplay, pouncing on to Morrow’s rebounded shot from the blue line. Moments later Ulett put the Storm up by one with a short handed effort – the Canadian winger darting up the left wall and dispatching a hard wrist shot that beat the Flyer’s new emergency goalie at the far post.

The Storm headed to the locker room for the first intermission up by one on the scoreboard and well up in shots also. It took just three minutes into the second period for the Storm to go up by two when Johnson beat Salama on the breakaway, assisted by Martan. The home side ran in to some minor penalty trouble in the later stages and the

Flyers took full advantage scoring on the odd man play through Pavlovs. A big response not long after from the Storm saw them regain their two goal cushion when Ulett picked up his second of the game after latching onto a loose puck out in-front.

The score would remain the same heading into the second break. A back door wrister by Eriksson on the powerplay reduced the Flyers deficit to just one goal early in the third. The visitors drew level at the mid point of the period after a nice team play was finished off by Osterberg for his second marker of the game.

A tense back and forth final ten minutes would follow with some good chances at both ends. Time ran out for either team to take the win in regulation and the game was to be decided with a five minute 3v3 over time period. The Shelter erupted after a poorly timed line change by the Flyers afforded Hinam the time to pick his spot on net and beat Salama to secure the two points for the Storm.
