MANCHESTER STORM VS BELFAST GIANTS – SATURDAY 17TH DECEMBER 2022 @19:00 – PLANET ICE ALTRINCHAM
Manchester, don’t miss our next home fixture on Saturday 17th December as we take on Belfast Giants with league points on the line. This fixture is also our annual ‘Air The Bear‘ event and we’re working once again with Cash For Kids as part of the #MissionChristmas campaign!
Our ‘Air The Bear‘ charity fixture is always one of the highlights of the season and we can’t wait to see you all inside the ‘Storm Shelter‘ for what’s sure to be another very special event.
Doors open 6PM for a 7PM start and tickets can be found HERE
On Sunday the Storm travel to Guildford to face the Flames for a faceoff time of 6PM. With more league points up for grabs, Matt Ginn will be looking for a strong performance from his side.
WHAT IS ‘AIR THE BEAR’
Air the Bear is an event where fans bring a soft toy to a fixture during the Christmas period. Once the home team scores their first goal of the evening, the bears are then thrown onto the ice and collected. Following the game the soft toys are donated to charities and hospitals.
You can watch an example HERE from Hershey Bears who play in the American Hockey League (AHL) – A total 52, 341 soft toys were thrown on to the ice following the first Hershey goal!
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
It’s simple – Bring a bear / soft toy to the fixture on Saturday 17th December. The soft toys can be brand new, but if pre-loved please make sure they’re washed and in good condition.
Wrap your soft toy in cling film to protect from ice and water when on the ice.
Wait for Manchester Storm to score their first of the night, then throw your soft toy / bear on to the ice!
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The soft toys will be collected by our match night staff and stewards and then stored until Wednesday 21st December when the 2022/23 season squad will deliver them to #MissionChristmas HQ ready to be distributed across the North West as part of the Cash For Kids campaign.
