Lutwyche signs two-way contract with Blackburn Hawks
British forward Jacob Lutwyche set to spend 2022/23 season split between Manchester Storm and NIHL side Blackburn Hawks to aid development and increase playing time.
Hawks Head Coach Dom on Jacob:
Jacob is the stamp on the statement that we wanted to make this summer when putting the roster together. I don’t think anyone will be able to appreciate the effort that has gone in to signing Jacob on a two way deal with the Storm. I don’t think there are many ties between the elite league and NIHL1 so we are extremely proud of that. We have to definitely thank Carl and Finner for coming up with an agreement that suites both parties.
He is a very talented player and will continue to develop from the relationship we have managed to strengthen between the Hawks and the elite league side. After speaking with Ginn and Finner we all believe he has what it takes to move to the next level in time but needs to get quality game time to grow when he is not called upon by the Storm. Training in Manchester and then coming down to play for us on the weekends regularly will help him massively.
We have added Jacob to what we feel is a very strong side we have put together and he will make us that much stronger. I look forward to seeing what our team will accomplish and what what he will as well down the line. I am really looking forward to working with himself and every player we of the guys. Now it’s just time to get started.
Jacob on Blackburn:
“I’m very grateful to be given the opportunity to play at Blackburn and train with Manchester. This has taken a lot of effort from both parties so to return the favour, I will consistently put in 100% effort. My goals for this season are to 1. Create a significant impact at all Blackburn Hawks games 2. Develop more confidence which will take me to a higher level. Dom has injected a strong sense of development into Blackburn which I believe not enough teams are doing. I’m looking forward to our first game at hawks, I hope you are as loud as you were last year!
