A comprehensive all-round display from the Storm saw them take a much deserved 5-0 victory, as Matt Ginn secured his first shutout of the new league campaign.

A positive start from the Storm was rewarded in the 7th minute through a classy Curtis Hamilton finish. The silky move was rounded out by a low five-hole finish with the helpers going to Brady and MacLeod. Later in the period, the shot-stopping Ginn produced an excellent double-save, in the 19th minute, to preserve the one-goal advantage for the hosts.

The Storm doubled their advantage through Brady, who cut-in from the halfboards to accurately fire the puck beyond Owen’s glove five minutes into the second period. Things got even better for the hosts when youngster Ulrick was on-hand to convert, after a goal mouth scramble saw the puck fall on his stick.

A threatening drive to the net by Fawcett drew a penalty shot in the 32nd minute, but the Flyers netminder held firm on this occasion. Not long after, the Storm penalty killing unit produced a goal, after Brady won the offensive zone face-off and VanWormer immediately released a low wrister into Fife’s goal. Manchester maintained their four-goal advantage through to the end of the middle stanza.

An entertaining final period, with few whistles, saw the Storm find a fifth goal in the game. Some heavy forechecking pressure forced a turnover deep in the zone attacking and Critchlow’s shot on goal produced a rebound for Fawcett to convert in the 53rd minute of the game. The closing stages of the match were expertly negotiated by the hosts to complete a shutout victory.
