NHL Draft Pick, Henrik Samuelsson joins the Storm!

NHL draftee, Henrik Samuelsson is the latest forward to be announced to the Manchester Storm 2019/20 roster!
The 25-year old forward joins the Storm as a late signing to the club, and will be flying into Manchester this week.
Described as a big and strong player, with impressive offensive skills; Samuelsson was a 2012 NHL draft pick, being selected in round 1 at #27 overall by Phoenix Coyotes (Arizona Coyotes).
Previous teams for the dual national forward include SHL side, MODO Hockey, Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL) and Idaho Steelheads (ECHL). Samuelsson has had an impressive career in the NHL’s feeder league, icing 201 games and totalling 74 points for AHL teams such as Portland Pirates, Springfield Falcons, Tucson Roadrunners and more.
Sammuelsson has picked up numerous awards during his hockey career. The 2011/2012 and 2013//14 seasons saw him as WHL Champion. Achievements also include making the CHL’s Memorial Cup All-Star Team twice and being a CHL memorial Cup Champion. In 2011-2012, Samuelsson was also awarded the SHL’s most points by an U18 Junior when icing for MODO Hockey.
Born in Pittsburgh, the dual national forward is of NHL legacy. He is the son of two-time Stanley Cup Champion, and 1982 NHL Draft Pick, Ulf Samuelsson. During his career, Ulf iced for the Hartford Whalers (now Carolina Hurricanes), Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers, plus Original Six teams – New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings. Following retirement, Ulf spent years as an Assistant Coach and Scout for various NHL teams.
His brother Philip Samuelsson was a 2009 draft pick for Pittsburgh Penguins and younger brother Adam ices in the OHL. Sister, Victoria Samuelsson also plays hockey, and is an SDHL (Swedish Women’s Elite league) champion.
Head Coach, Ryan Finnerty is pleased with the recent signing of Samuelsson and looks forward to welcoming him to the squad. He commented,

Due to Samuelsson’s signing, the club will be releasing dual national forward, Mario Puskarich from the Storm. The forward totalled 11 points during his time with the club across league and Challenge Cup competitions.

“It’s an extremely tough decision to release a player at any time during the season, and with Mario it’s no different. He’s a great player and a wonderful person. We want to wish him the best going forward.”
