Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm continue their quest for the PredictorBet Playoffs this Sunday 1st April when the Fife Flyers visit the Storm Shelter in a 5:30 pm faceoff.

Last night’s game in Kirkcaldy gave the advantage to the Storm who have a 4-1 advantage coming into Sunday’s game. Chris Auger scored against his former side in the first period to put the Storm 1-0 ahead. Linden Springer doubled the lead after he grabbed a second-period powerplay goal, before Andrew McKinney extended the Storm lead to 3 goals. Dan Correale got the Flyers on the board in the third period, however Matt Beca restored the 3-goal lead for the Storm. A big night for Mike Hammond saw him grab an assist on all 4 Storm goals. The Flyers require a 3-goal victory on Sunday to take the game to overtime, and a 4-goal victory would see them qualify for the semi-final.

The games between the sides at the Storm Shelter have been tight affairs in the regular season, with both matches ending 3-2 in favour of the Storm. Goals from Dane Byers, Ciaran Long, and Mike Hammond secured Storm’s victory in late-October, Flyers defencemen Jim Jorgensen and Ian Young scoring the Flyers’ consolations markers. Jorgensen scored again in the second meeting at Planet Ice Altrincham in mid-March, along with Chase Schaber, however Dane Byers, Mike Hammond, and Scott Pitt goals ensured both points stayed in Altrincham.

Elsewhere in the PredictorBet playoffs, Belfast beat Nottingham 4-3 at home on Friday night, while the Cardiff Devils traveled to Coventry and defeated the Blaze 4-2. A third-period onslaught by the Steelers saw them eventually overcome the Guildford Flames 5-2 at home.

One to watch: Dan Correale scored the solitary Flyers goal last night, taking his Flyers tally to 4 goals after joining Fife in mid-February.
