Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm travel to Braehead this Sunday to take on the Clan in a 6:00 pm faceoff.

The Clan are in a fierce battle for the final playoff place as the regulation season moves into the its final stages. Braehead currently occupy 8th position, with 49 points from 51 games. Coventry are hot on their tails with 47 points after the same number of game, while the Dundee Stars have a game in hand over both sides and sit on 46 points. The Clan helped their cause last night as they travelled to Belfast and defeated the Giants 5-3. Brendan Brooks, Tyler Shattock, Cameron Burt, and Jacob Doty scored past Jackson Whistle before Shattock added an empty-net goal. Unfortunately for the Clan, Brendan Brooks picked up a Match penalty for spearing in the third period and could be missing from Sunday’s game. The Storm hosted Fife Flyers at the Storm Shelter, eventually overcoming the Flyers 3-2 in a tight game. Goals came from Dane Byers, Mike Hammond, and Scott Pitt, while Mike Clemente turned away 24 shots in the Storm nets. That result keeps the Storm 8 points behind the league-leading Cardiff Devils, who require 2 regulation-time victories to secure the league title. The Storm extended their lead over third-placed Belfast and fourth-placed Fife to 7 points.

This is the final meeting between the Clan and Storm this regular season, and Manchester have prevailed on two of the previous occasions. A 5-2 victory away at Braehead in January was followed up by a 4-3 Braehead win two weeks later and a 5-2 Storm victory the following evening. Mike Hammond has top scored for the Storm against the Clan, picking up 1 goal and 5 assists against his former side. Matt Beca, Scott Pitt, and Luke Moffatt have each picked up 4 points against the Clan. Felix Poulin picked up 5 points in the two games at the Storm Shelter in late-January, putting him ahead of Cameron Burt who has 3 points against the Storm.

One to watch: After an injury-hit season, Tyler Shattock has worked his way back into the side and picked up 8 points in his last 2 games. His record now stands at 10 goals and 15 assists in 34 games.
