Weekend Recap & Look Ahead

Saturday night, the Storm travelled to Sheffield to take on the Steelers in a tough away fixture. Dallas Ehrhardt opened the scoring early, giving the Storm the perfect start, but the home side responded with four unanswered goals to hand us a 4-1 defeat.

Sunday at the Shelter was a completely different story. It was our 2017/18 Throwback Night, and the Storm put in a performance worthy of the occasion. We honoured the memory and legacy of Storm legends Hammy and Pops, and the team delivered an inspired display in their name. Evan Weninger turned aside all 37 shots he faced to record a well-earned shutout, while Zack Milton’s first professional goal sent both the Shelter and the Storm bench into celebration, marking a special moment for the young forward. Gianluca Esteves led the way offensively with two goals, while Loren Ulett provided three assists as the Storm powered to a dominant 6-0 victory over the Cardiff Devils. It was a statement win, keeping our playoff hopes very much alive.

With Dundee falling to Coventry on Saturday and the Storm securing two vital points on Sunday, we now head into the final four games of the season just four points off the last playoff spot. The race is on.

The Final Push

We are away from home this weekend, and while your support will be sorely missed at the Shelter, we hope to see as many of you as possible on the road. On Wednesday night, we take on the Nottingham Panthers in another crucial battle, and on Sunday, we take to the skies to face the Belfast Giants.

For all intents and purposes, these last four games are playoff games. Every shift, every moment, every point matters. With the belief inside that dressing room and the continued support of the Storm faithful, this season is far from over.

We look forward to seeing you back in person next Friday for our home finale—let’s make it a night to remember.
