Storm return to the top of the table with 7-1 win!!!

Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm returned to the top of the Elite League table this evening, with a thrilling 7-1 win over a much improved Edinburgh Capitals, at Planet Ice Altrincham!

Gerard Hanson got the Storm on the scoresheet early on in the opening period, with 6:30 gone in the period. Less than two minutes later, the Capitals equalized with Sergi Banashkov grabbing the goal with 8:29 gone in the period. The visiting Capitals, who had numerous players returning from injury, battled hard to keep the Storm at bay. The constant pressure however, finally broke, with Matt Beca grabbing the go-ahead goal, with 10:39 gone in the period.

The second period saw 10 minutes of end to end play, with Storm making the most of their chance. Dane Byers grabbed the Storm’s 3rd of the night, before Scott Pitt grabbed his 99th EIHL goal minutes later. Gerard Hanson grabbed his 2nd, and the Storm’s 5th of the night, before Dane Byers grabbed his second with 18:22 played.

The third period saw only one goal, but a special one none the less, as Scott Pitt grabbed his 100th   Elite League goal, and Storm’s 7th with 3:40 remaining in the final period.

The Storm now look ahead to tomorrows away game, against the Belfast Giants, before returning to the Storm Shelter next Saturday, when they take on the CHL’s surprise package & high flying, Nottingham Panthers. Face-off is at 7 pm, and will be followed by the immensely popular Skate with the Storm event, details of which you can find on the official Storm website!
