Storm launch their 2016/17 jerseys!

With less than 24hrs hours to go before the Go Goodwins Manchester Storm take to the ice for the first time in the 2016/17 season, fans at the OSC’s Meet the Players event, as well as those watching live via the Storm’s Facebook stream, were the first to see the brand new Manchester Storm jerseys for this coming season. The jerseys, which were modelled by the players this evening, have been designed in collaboration with Rhino Sports, and all three have a different design.

The Home jersey, which features an updated “blackout” version of the world famous main logo of the Storm, is pure black apart from three subtle bands across each of the arms, two in yellow, and one in purple. The jersey has also been made in the same material as last seasons retro jersey, giving it a “sheen” when under the Storm Shelter lights.

Building on the popularity of last seasons retro shirt, the 2016/17 away jersey puts a modern twist on the popular “Face” design worn in the B&H cup final. Now with the colour white at it’s core, the new away shirt replaces the original Storm colours of sky blue and two tone grey, and swaps them for purple and yellow.

Both the Home and Away shirts feature a large “silhouette” of the Storm logo on the back, a popular design element from the infamous “millennium” jerseys.

The purple Challenge Cup jersey might feel rather familiar to Storm fans who voted and took part in our “design the warm-up” competition easier in the off-season as it is a combination of the two runners up. The designs, by Maddie Rose and Lauren Broadbent both used purple as their base, and both featured unusual designs which were popular with old and new Storm fans alike.

All three jerseys also feature a subtle nod to the city of Manchester as the “Bee of Manchester” features on the neck insert, as well as the name of the club on the lower back of the jerseys, much like the original Storm jerseys from days gone by.
