Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm were on the receiving end of a 9-3 loss this evening at the SSE Odyssey Arena, as a rested Belfast Giants team.

The Giants took the lead after just 45s, when Storm’s Paul Swindlehurst attempted to clear a deflected puck from the air, and played into off the back of Clemente and into the net. The goal was awarded to Steve Saviano of the Giants. Darcey Murphy grabbed the second with 2:55 gone in the period, before Colin Sheild grabbed the 3rd for the hosts just 12 seconds later.

Coach Ryan Finnerty called a 30s timeout, attempting to calm and refocus his team. Gerard Hanson grabbed the first for the Storm with 3:31 gone in the period, much to the delight of the traveling fans. However, the Giant’s Saviano put the Giants 3 goals ahead again, with 5:18 played in the period. The play became more balanced following the Giants domination of the opening 10 minutes, but it was the visitors who would grab the last goal of the period, with Mike Hammond getting a goal with 13:55 gone in the period.

The second period saw plenty of goals once again, but this time all for the home side, with Darcey Murphy opening the periods scoring with 3:49 gone, before Saviano grabbed his third… and FOURTH of the night,  with Sebastien Sylvestre grabbing the home sides 8th goal with 44s remaining in the period.

Belfast grabbed their 9th and final goal early in the 3rd period, with John Kurtz recording the beautiful shot, before the play flowed end to end. Despite outshooting the Giants, the Storm were unable to convert, until Luke Moffatt grabbed his first of the weekend with 2:25 to go in the period.
