Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm fell to the MK Lightning this evening, with a 3-2 loss.

The first period started well for the hosts, who took the lead after 3:10 had been played, with Denny Kearney grabbing the goal. The play flowed end to end for a solid 10 minutes after this, but MK had the majority of the time on the puck. This time on puck was finally rewarded, when Ludwig Karlsson slipped one past Clemente, to put the hosts 2-0 up.

Controversy arose when the Storm’s #9, Luke Moffatt, seemingly scored – for it to be ruled a no goal, as it transpired the linesmen had signalled for offside, but forgotten to blow his whistle, with just minutes left in the 1st.

The second period started much better for the visitors, with Storm controlling the play. However, it took until the 14th minute of the period, for Storm to finally get on the score sheet, when Captain Jay Rosehill jumped on a rebound to slot past Wiikman in the Lightning’s net. Tommy Mele restores the MK 2 goal lead with 16.3s to go in the period.

Once again, Storm dominated the possession in the 3rd period, and we’re rewarded for their effort, when Ciaran Long grabbed Storm’s 2nd of the night. The continued attack by Storm wasn’t enough however, and the hosts took the 2 points, and left Storm & their fans to wonder what might of been, had Moffatts goal stood.

Storm now look ahead to next weekend, when they head north to the Dundee Stars on Saturday, before having a rare Sunday without any games.
