Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back at the Storm Shelter this Sunday 17th September for a 5:30 pm faceoff against Elite League new boys the Milton Keynes Lightning.

Contrasting Saturday for the sides: It was a Saturday to forget for the Storm as they were blanked 5-0 by the Coventry Blaze in a Patton conference game, and they’ll be looking to make amends against the Lightning. Milton Keynes hosted the Braehead Clan and came out on top 3-1. British forwards Lewis Hook and Ashley Tait got the scoring underway for the Lightning, before the Clan got a goal back. Doucet rounded out the scoring for the Lightning, while Miika Wiikman stayed strong saving 34 shots on the evening. The result is Lightning’s second win in the league already.

Mind the Gap: Coach Pete Russell signed 3 players from French team Rapaces de Gap over the summer, Kevin King, Kyle Essery, and Christian Isackson joining from the Ligue Magnus champions. Unfortunately for the Lightning, Kevin King received a match penalty last night for kneeing and will miss the match this evening, while Kyle Essery has been missing through injury and it is unknown whether he will be in the lineup either. Joining Essery on the sidelines has been GB international Jonathan Boxill and Polish netminder Przemyslaw Odrobny.

Not only is this game another big Patton conference matchup and the perfect opportunity for the Storm to get back on track after a challenging Saturday evening, it is also a chance to welcome back former Storm player Paul Phillips, who signed for the Lightning over the summer.

One to watch: Young British forward Lewis Hook has started the season with three goals in two league games. If the Peterborough-born forward continues this form, he will be knocking loudly on the door of the GB team next April.
