Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back in Elite League action this Sunday as they face the MK Lightning at the Storm Shelter in a 5:30 pm faceoff.

The sides faced off last night in Milton Keynes in a game that ended 3-2 in favor of the Lightning. After a tight first period, which ended scoreless, the game exploded in the second period with 4 goals. Shane Bakker got the scoring underway off a nice deflection before Matt Beca doubled the lead on the powerplay. Jay Rosehill and Matt Nickerson subsequently exchanged pleasantries, followed by Lightning goals scored by Lewis Hook and Kevin King. The only goal of the third period went to Lightning’s Denny Kearney.

It was a good evening for both netminders, with Storm’s Mike Clemente turning away 25 shots and Lightning’s Miika Wiikman making 31 saves. The Lightning have options in the netminding position, after Przemyslaw Odrobny recently recovered from injury. Coach Pete Russell has been rotating netminders since his recovery, so Odrobny may get the start in Altrincham this evening. Lightning will welcome back Francis Verreault Paul who missed last night’s game through suspension, while Griffin, Gibson, Isackson, and Karlsson all missed last night’s game through injury. Storm were missing Auger and Balmer through injury, while Matt Bissonnette was rested.

Tonight’s game should see the home debut of new signing Scott Pitt, who joined the club from Slovakian MsHK Zilina, so make sure you get down to the Storm Shelter and cheer on the boys as they look to extend their league home winning streak to 4 games.

One to watch: Canadian forward Kevin King has made an impression since joining from French champions Gap over the summer, scoring 4 goals and adding 2 assists in 5 league games.
