Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back in Elite League action this Saturday 16th September, as the Coventry Blaze travel to the Storm Shelter in a 7:00 pm faceoff.

Last weekend at the SkyDome: It’s the second meeting between the Patton conference rivals in a week, as the sides face off last weekend in the SkyDome Arena. After an even first period, which ended goalless, Matt Beca got the scoring underway early in the second, assists going to Dane Byers and Matt Stanisz. Beca doubled the lead towards the end of the period on the powerplay, Mike Hammond and Byers assisting. Marc-Olivier Vallerand reduced the deficit to one in the third, Ahnelov and Courchaine grabbing the helpers. Ryan Trenz restored the two goal lead with 10 minutes left in the game, Hammond and Beca adding to their points total with assists, quickly followed by a Mike Hammond goal, Matt Beca grabbing another assist and Matt Bissonnette getting his first point of the evening as the game finished 4-1 in favour of the Storm. Mike Clemente turning away 33 of 34 shots in the Storm net, Nastiuk making 24 saves for the Blaze. With this victory, the Storm have already improved on their league record against the Blaze last season as the Blaze ran out victors in all four games.

Last weekend’s game had a bit of everything, some great Storm goals, a bit of feistiness, and the Beca-Hammond was on fire once again. This Saturday’s game should be another good one, and is not to be missed!

One to watch: Marc-Olivier Vallerand has started the season well, scoring a goal and an assist in the first two league games of the season. The Canadian forward joined the Blaze after a successful career in the ECHL, Italy and EBEL, putting up good numbers for all of his previous teams.
