Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back on home ice this Saturday 24th March as they take on the Coventry Blaze in a Patton Conference matchup that faces off at 7:00 pm.

After Fife’s results this week, the Storm have now guaranteed a second place finish in the Elite League in addition to the Patton conference trophy, which will be presented at this game. The Blaze are in a dog-fight for the final playoff spot with the Braehead Clan and will be keen to get both points to aid their playoff push. After the Clan went down at home to the Panthers on Friday night, the Blaze trail the Clan by a single point but have a game in hand.

The Blaze have been in good form recently as the regular season runs to a close. They picked up 4 points last weekend defeating the Stars at home and the Flames away in Surrey. A big second period, including 4 unanswered goals, helped the Blaze to a 7-3 victory over the Stars. Goals came from Paquette, Dingle, and Courchaine, who each scored 2 apiece, and Jordan Pietrus grabbed the other in a game that ended the Stars playoff hopes. Goals from Luke Ferrara, Jordan Pietrus, and Adam Courchaine on Sunday night earnt the Blaze a 3-1 victory against the Flames. It was this result that confirmed the Storm as Patton conference champions. The Storm travelled to Guildford on Saturday night, but it was the Flames who came out with 2 points after a 5-2 victory, Dane Byers and Luke Moffatt with the only Storm goals. Sunday night saw the Panthers visit the Storm Shelter in a game that required a shootout to separate the sides, with Matt Beca and Dane Byers scoring to secure the victory. The Storm also faced the Cardiff Devils midweek in a rearranged fixture that ended 7-4 in favour of the Storm.

This is the eighth and final league meeting between the sides this season. Storm have won 5 of the previous meetings, while the Blaze have two victories, one at home and one at the Storm Shelter. Top scoring for the Storm has been Mike Hammond, who has picked up 15 points in the 7 meetings. Following are Matt Beca, with 12 points, and Dane Byers with 10 points. Marc-Olivier Vallerand, who has been missing with injury recently, has been the Blaze top scorer with 11 points in 7 games, followed by Jordan Pietrus who has 10 points.

One to watch: Ryan Dingle has been in top form recently, with 8 points in his last 5 games.
