Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are in midweek action this Wednesday as they face the Coventry Blaze at the Storm Shelter in a 7:30 pm faceoff.

Both sides are coming into the game off the back of a 4-point weekend, Storm overcoming Guildford and Belfast, Coventry beating Fife and Milton Keynes. The Blaze maintained their fight for a playoff spot on Saturday as they travelled to Kirkcaldy and faced the Flyers. It was a tight game, but the Blaze eventually won 3-2 having taken the lead after 8 minutes and not letting go. Two goals from Ben Lake and one from Brett Robinson were enough to secure both points. Coventry then won another tight game on Sunday 4-3 at home to the Lightning, Alex Barron grabbed a double while Gaelan Patterson and Brett Robinson both scored one goal each. Storm hosted the Flames on Saturday night, dispatching them 3-0 thanks to goals from Dallas Ehrhardt, Matt Beca, and Ciaran Long. Mike Clemente turned away all 21 Guildford shots in a good defensive performance. A good night in front of net on Sunday saw the Storm run away 6-3 victors in Belfast, Luke Moffatt scoring a hattrick, Scott Pitt, Matt Stanisz, and Ryan Trenz adding the other goals.

The last time the sides met the game ended 9-1 in favour of the Storm in a one-sided fixture. That result took Storm’s record to 4-2, with the games in Altrincham split 1-1 after an earlier 5-0 victory for the Blaze. Mike Hammond has 13 points from the 6 games against the Blaze, scoring 6 goals and adding 7 assists, Matt Beca is next in the scoring ranks with 3 goals and 8 assists. Marc-Olivier Vallerand enjoys playing against the Storm and has put up 7 goals and 3 assists in 6 games. He leads the Blaze in scoring against the Storm ahead of Jordan Pietrus who has 9 points including 6 assists. Mike Clemente has a 91.0% save percentage, while Kevin Nastiuk is at 86.9% against the Storm.

One to watch: Alex Miner Barron was a late season signing, but has slotted in well to the Blaze blueline and picked up 2 goals last weekend. His brother, Loren, spent some time in Edinburgh a few seasons ago, while Alex was second top points scored in Strasbourg last season.
