It’s a game of fourth versus fifth as the reigning Elite League champions find themselves 1 point behind the Storm, who have 24 points from 18 games. It’s been contrasting weeks for the sides, as Storm had a solitary game while the Devils faced 3 teams over the last 7 days.

Manchester overcame the Nottingham Panthers in their final Challenge Cup group game. Matt Beca got the scoring underway after just 3 minutes of the first period. After Nottingham scored a double, Luke Moffatt grabbed a 15-minute hattrick in the second period, taking his total to 14 goals this season. Matt Stanisz rounded out the scoring with eight and half minutes left to secure a 5-3 victory for the Storm.

Cardiff travelled to Fife last Saturday, coming away with both points in a 4-3 victory. Andrew Lord, Joey Martin, Gleason Fournier, and Paul Crowder grabbing the goals in a tight game in Kirkcaldy. The Devils then hosted the Giants on Sunday night, going down in a shootout after the game ended 3-3 after 65 minutes. Cardiff rounded out their week with a trip to Murrayfield on Wednesday as they defeated the Capitals 5-3. It was a big night for Matt Pope who scored 2 goals and added 1 assist.

This is the second meeting of the season between the sides, and the first time the Devils have travelled to the Storm Shelter. The last meeting ended up 6-1 in favour of the Storm in late September. Chris Auger scored a hattrick, while Matt Stanisz, Luke Moffatt, and Dallas Ehrhardt rounded out the scoring for the Storm, while Joey Haddad scored the solitary Devils goal. It was a big night in nets for Mike Clemente as he turned away 37 shots.

One to watch: Joey Martin has top scored for the Devils this season, splitting his points almost evenly between goals and assists. The Ontario-native has scored points in his last 3 games, and has 13 points in the Devils’ last 10 games.
