Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester start their weekend off with a home game against the Braehead Clan this Saturday at 7:00 pm, the first in a double header this weekend between the sides at Planet Ice Altrincham.

The Clan have been making a number of changes recently, as they look to secure a playoff spot and move up the table. Mike Embach departed on Monday after scoring 19 points in 35 EIHL games, while they’ve added Robert Lepine and Felix-Antoine Poulin in the past two weeks. Lepine made his debut against the Storm on the 13th, and has played 5 games scoring two goals and one assist since joining from the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL. Poulin started the season in Slovakia with Scott Pitt, joining the Clan four days after Lepine.

Both sides were in conference action last weekend, Storm facing MK and Coventry, while Braehead faced Edinburgh and Dundee. It was a 4-point weekend for the Storm as they overcame the Lightning 3-1 at home on Saturday before beating the Blaze 5-2 in the SkyDome. Sunday was multipoint night for Mike Hammond, Luke Moffatt, Dallas Ehrhardt, Matt Beca, Matt Stanisz, and Scott Pitt, who scored one goal and assisted on two others. Saturday night saw a tight game against the Lightning, with Mike Hammond, Ciaran Long, and Luke Moffatt notching a goal apiece. Mike Clemente made 79 saves in a busy weekend for the Storm netminder. The Clan squeezed past Edinburgh on Saturday, winning 4-3, before going down 4-1 in Dundee. Goals from Michael Gutwald, Ryan Potulny, and an Adam Brace double sunk the Capitals, but only Bari McKenzie could find the back of the net on Sunday. The Clan were also in action on Wednesday, hosting the league leading Cardiff Devils. Braehead were shutout in a 1-0 loss is a tight game against the champions.

This match sees the return of Storm Captain Jay Rosehill after a 6-match suspension, so make sure you get down to the Storm Shelter to cheer him and the rest of the boys in a big double header weekend.

One to watch: Felix-Antoine Poulin was a standout player for the Dundee Stars last season, and was instrumental in the Stars playoff run. An offensive defenceman, Poulin should provide some added offense to the Clan’s blueline.
