Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back in Challenge Cup action this Saturday 30th September as they travel to Nottingham to take on the Panthers in a 7:00 pm faceoff.

It’s an important game for both sides, as they chase qualification to the next round of the cup. The Panthers have played 1 game in the cup, going down in Sheffield 6-5. Manchester have 1 win from their first 3 games.

Winning streaks: Both sides come into the game on the back of wins, Nottingham beating Belfast 5-4 on Wednesday and Guildford 3-2 last Sunday. The Panthers spread the scoring around against the Giants, with Lachowicz, Mosey, Clarke, Bussieres, and Farmer grabbing a goal each. Nottingham required penalty shots to beat the Flames, Perlini and Delargo scoring in regulation and Josh Shalla getting the winning penalty shots. Last weekend Manchester faced Guildford at home before traveling to Cardiff to face the Devils. Manchester scored 6 goals in both games, securing a 4-point weekend in the process. It was a good weekend for Chris Auger who scored a hattrick in Cardiff, while Mike Clemente made 72 saves over the course of the weekend.

Panthers summer rebuild: Nottingham made a large number of changes over the summer as Coach Neilson looked to compete both domestically and in the Champions Hockey League. One of the biggest signings was netminder Mike Garnett who joined after a successful career in the KHL. Nottingham also signed NHL first-round pick Zack Phillips from the Swedish Allsvenskan, and added proven goalscorers Mark Delargo and Josh Shalla. Shalla has had an impressive start to the season, scoring 4 times in the CHL. The Panthers should welcome back Mathieu Brisebois who has missed several weeks due to injury.

One to watch: Young Russian forward Alexander Mokshantsev joined the Panthers from the KHL. He has the caught the eye numerous times already this season, showing good puckhandling skills, scoring 3 goals in the CHL and 2 goals in domestic competitions.
