Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back in Elite League action this Sunday as they travel to Milton Keynes to take on the Lightning in a 5:30 pm faceoff.

It’s a big game between top of the table Storm and the unbeaten at home Lightning. Both sides were in League action last night as the Storm welcomed Edinburgh to the Storm Shelter and Lightning travelled to Nottingham. It was a high-scoring night in Altrincham as the Storm ran away 9-0 victors over a depleted Edinburgh side. Goals came courtesy of a Dane Byers hattrick, two from Jay Rosehill, as well as markers from Moffatt, Hammond, Beca, and Stanisz. Mike Clemente and Ashley Smith shared the shutout, as Smith took over with 8 minutes left in the tie. The Lightning played out a tight game against Nottingham, going down 4-3 in overtime. Kevin King put the Lightning ahead 1-0 before the Panthers replied at the start of the second period. Alex Forbes and Gui Doucet put the Lightning back ahead, before the Panthers scored three unanswered goals to secure both points.

The Lightning are unbeaten at home this season, winning four straight in the league and three in the cup. The sides have met three times already this season, with the points going to the home side in each game. MK travelled to Altrincham in mid-September in a game that ended 6-2 in Storm’s favour. The next meetings were a double-header earlier this month, Lightning winning 3-2 at home and Storm winning 6-0 at home. Denny Kearney has top-scored for the Lightning during those three games, scoring two goals, while Dane Byers has enjoyed facing the Lightning, picking up six assists over the three meetings.

One to watch: Kevin King has top-scored for the Lightning this season, scoring 6 goals in just 10 games while adding 4 assists. The Calgary-native is proving to be one of Lightning’s most popular players in their inaugural EIHL season.
