Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm have a solitary game this weekend, as they travel to Dundee on Saturday to face the Stars in an Elite League game that faces off at 7:00 pm.

Mixed weekends for both sides: Last weekend saw mixed results for both sides. Dundee were supposed to face Guildford home and away, however Sunday’s game in Surrey was abandoned due to ice issues after 20 minutes on the clock, with the game poised at 2-2. The previous night’s meeting between the sides went all the way to overtime, before Guildford scored to take both points. Stars goals on the night came from Marc-Oliver Mimar and player-coach Omar Pacha. Pacha has taken up a playing role recently, as the Stars have had to contend with some injuries. Storm faced a depleted Edinburgh Capitals side on Saturday, winning 9-0, followed by a 3-2 loss in Milton Keynes on Sunday. Dane Byers was the star on Saturday, scoring 3 goals and adding 1 assist, while Mike Hammond and Jay Rosehill both scored 2 goals. Sunday’s loss to Milton Keynes came despite goals from Rosehill and Scott Pitt.

Strong netminding the key: Both teams have built their sides around strong goaltenders. Fullerton joined the Braehead Clan as injury-cover late in 2015 before spending the full season with the Edinburgh Capitals last season. Despite seeing a lot of rubber in Edinburgh, facing over 35 shot per night, he put up respectable numbers last year. His form has been improving in recent weeks, as have the Stars in general, posting save percentages of 94.6%, 94.6%, and 91.7%. Mike Clemente currently has the 4th best save percentage, with 91.3%, and 4th lowest goals against average, with 2.37, in the league.

Last time: This is the second meeting between the sides this season, and the first trip for the Storm up to Dundee. The sides met in the Storm Shelter in October, in a game that required penalty shots to separate the teams. Adam Harding, Taylor Dickin, and Marc-Oliver Mimar got the Stars goals, while Pitt, Moffatt, and Hammond scored for the Storm Ciaran Long was the shootout hero, scoring the only goal.

One to watch: Gabriel Levesque has been putting up the points for the Stars early on in the season, and has shown his versatility by playing both offence and defence. Although signed predominantly as a defenceman, Levesque has previously played as a centre.
