Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back in Patton Conference action this Sunday as they travel to Coventry to take on the Blaze in a 5:15 pm faceoff.

It’s been a busy weekend for the Blaze, who travelled to Belfast on Friday to face the Giants on consecutive evenings. Unfortunately for the Blaze they went down on both games, losing 7-4 and 7-2. Friday night saw Dannick Paquette grab two goals, with Brett Robinson and Jordan Pietrus getting the other two Blaze markers. Pietrus’ goal in the second period put the Blaze 4-3 ahead before the Giants scored 4 goals in the final period to secure both points.  It was a tough night on Saturday as Adam Courchaine and Alex Barron were the only Blaze players to get on the scoreboard. Kevin Nastiuk made 59 saves in the Blaze net over the two games taking him to 993 saves for the season, while Brython Preece played the last 12 minutes on Saturday night, saving 8 Giants shots. Manchester hosted Milton Keynes on Saturday night, winning 3-1 in a tight game. Ciaran Long, Luke Moffatt, and Mike Hammond scored for the Storm, while Mike Clemente turned away 42 shots and was unlucky to concede with a minute and a half left in the game.

This is the final trip to Coventry for the Storm, and Manchester currently hold the advantage in the three prior meetings in Coventry. Storm winning 4-1 and 4-2 in the first two trips, before Coventry won the last meeting 7-2. Coventry have also won their solitary game in Altrincham, getting a 5-0 win earlier in the season. Storm’s goals have been spread around the side, with 4 players scoring 2 goals against the Blaze. Matt Beca and Mike Hammond have top point scored against Coventry, with 7 and 6 points, respectively. No other Storm player has more than 2 points against the Blaze. Top scoring for the Blaze has been Marc-Olivier Vallerand with 7 goals and 2 assists from 4 games. Jordan Pietrus is close behind him, with 7 points against the Storm.

One to watch: All-action forward Danick Paquette has been in good form recently, scoring 6 points in his previous 5 games. The Blaze forward is not afraid to stick up for his teammates and knows where the net is
