Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back in action this Sunday evening, as they travel to Coventry to take on the Blaze in a big Patton Conference game that faces off at 5:15 pm.

Conference standings: The Storm and the Blaze find themselves in second and third, respectively, in the Patton conference standings as both teams look to chase down the Milton Keynes Lightning who are in first position. Manchester have 9 points from 9 conference games, while the Blaze are 2 points behind having played just 5 games.

A tough Saturday for both sides: Both sides went down in tight games on Saturday night, Coventry losing 3-1 against Braehead and Storm going down 4-3 in overtime against Cardiff. Marc-Olivier Vallerand scored the solitary goal for the Blaze in Braehead, with Kevin Nastiuk made 20 saves in nets. Storm took Cardiff all the way, thanks to a Dane Byers double, and a Paul Swindlehurst goal. It was a big performance from Mike Clemente in nets, who turned away 37 shots for the Storm.

Previous meetings: This is meeting number 3 of the season between the sides, with the spoils going to the away side in both of the previous games. Storm traveled to Coventry in early September and came away 4-1 victors. A big night for Matt Beca saw him grab 2 goals and 2 assists, while Mike Hammond and Ryan Trenz grabbed the other goals. Marc-Olivier Vallerand scoring the only Blaze goal on the night. It was a different story a week later, as the Blaze blanked the 5-0 Storm in Altrincham. Goals from Vallerand, Venus, Ferrara, and Pietrus secured the points for Coventry, while Kevin Nastiuk saved all 21 Storm shots.

One to watch: Marc-Olivier Vallerand has already scored 16 goals in his first 20 games with the Blaze this season, and now sits on top of the league’s goalscoring charts.
