WEEKEND PREVIEW: Storm face Panthers in Challenge Cup action!

Last weekend saw the Storm beat Belfast Giants 2-1 in overtime. The game was evenly contested and the end-to-end action was eventually halted by Jared Aulin’s backhand finish.

This Saturday sees the Storm in Challenge Cup action at home against the Nottingham Panthers.

The club currently sits joint top of the league table and the players are looking for a chance to win in the Challenge Cup win this weekend. So let’s pack the Storm Shelter this Saturday against the Panthers!

Last Saturday the boys tripped across the Pennines to play the Sheffield Steelers. The final scoreline sat 3-1 in favour of the Steelers, and the Storm will be pushing for a win tonight.

Netminder, Matt Ginn currently leads all goaltender stats with 97.06 save percentage and 1.00 GAA.

New faces to the Panthers roster include Swedish players – Adam Deutsch, Jens Jakobs and William Quist (2007 round 6 #157 overall by Edmonton Oilers)

Ex Steelers defenceman Mark Matherson and netminder, Jackson Whistle are now also icing for the Panthers. New Head Coach, Tim Wallace has given ex MK Lightning forward Georgs Golovkovs a place on the squad. Ex Fife Flyers, Brett Bulmer also joins the 2019/20 roster.

Amongst those not returning this season is GB gold medalist and fan favourite – Robert Farmer, who has transferred to DEL2 side, Lausitzer Füchse. Canadian forward, Chris Stewart has also taken the opportunity to sign for NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers. See more on Challenge Cup ticket information here.
