Storm traveled to Dundee on Saturday evening with the aim to leapfrog the Stars into 9th position in the Elite League standings. This was the third meeting of the two teams this season, both with a victory each.

It was the Storm who took the early lead, as a good spell of offensive zone pressure resulted in Fawcett’s wrist shot beating Leclerc in the Stars’s net. The assist went to Ehrhardt with the assist, on a delayed penalty call timed at 03.14; the Storm showing no sign of bus legs after a long journey up North.

A largely uneventful passage of play followed, with Storm having the better chances and more puck possession though.

Both teams ran into penalty trouble towards the end of the period. Neither team could convert however, and the first frame ended 1-0 in Storms favour.

A frantic start to the second period ensued with both netminders forced to make some big saves. Some dubious calls both ways by the referee lead to Storm defending on a 4on3 penalty kill with 7 minutes gone in the second period – Gin making some important saves to maintain Storm’s lead.

Dundee levelled the score at 28:28, just after their powerplay had ended, scored by Marquardt. Only 14 seconds later the Stars took a 2-1 lead through Brett Stovin.

Jared Aulin was taken down on a breakaway chance, resulting in the referee awarding a penalty shot. Mario Puscarich stepped up with the chance to level the score but he failed to beat Leclerc who deflected the low shot.

The Stars increased their lead not long after, as Dirk made the score 3-1. Storm replied almost immediately when Grewal found the twine at 35:39, assisted by Cody Thompson. Overall, a much more lively period ended 3-2 to Dundee.

Storm came out all guns blazing early on in the third looking to level the game. The first line combining well and creating chances.

A superb solo effort from Aulin skating coast to coast and beating the Dundee defence with some skilful stickwork made it a 3-3 game – a power play goal timed at 47:19. A tense final 10 minutes followed with both netminders facing a tonne of shots.

Dundee finally broke the deadlock at 56.58, when Kalns scored from a play behind the Storm net.

Finnerty elected to pull Ginn with 30 seconds left in a last minute effort to tie the game. Unfortunately the Stars held on and closed the game out. The match ended 4-3 to the home side.
