Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm battled hard to come from behind to beat the Braehead Clan this evening 6-3 in front of a noisy Storm Shelter!

The opening 20 minutes saw the Storm on the back foot for the vast majority of the period, with the Clan taking the lead 3 seconds before the first minute of play was even over, when Matt Beca was able to blast past Clemente in the Storm net, much to the delight of the travelling Glaswegians! The Storm then ran into penalty trouble, taking 3 consecutive penalties and being on a 5-on-3 penalty kill twice in as many minutes! However, the hard work of the Storm fell short, as the Clans Scott Pitt grabbed a power play goal with 11:01 remaining in the 1st.

Despite being 2-0 down, the Storm continued to battle hard and went close on numerous occasions, however, with the clock ticking down, there was no sign of Michal Zajkowski in the Clan net letting anything past him. That was, until Darian Dziurzynski was able to slot one past “Zaj” thanks to a fantastic Mario Trabucco pass!

The second period didn’t see any goals, but plenty of chances, as both sides battled hard. The play moved from end to end, with both netminders making a string of excellent saves. However, the third period saw what has to be described as a remarkable period of hockey from the Manchester Storm, with 5 goals for the home side!

Jack Prince grabbed an early goal in the period, with 21 seconds gone, to equalise for the home team, before Matt Bissonnette grabbed the Storms third & go-ahead goal, minutes later. The Clan began to up the pressure however, and Connor Varley was penalised with a Slashing minor with 16:59 to go in the period. Despite being a man down, the Storm were able to grab another goal, thanks to an excellent shorthanded goal by Prince, his second of the night. “HRH” Jack Prince wasn’t done however, and with 8:57 to go in the period, and from an assist via Cody Cartier, the GB international grabbed his 3rd of the night, his first professional hat trick! The Clan were able to claw one back with 7:01 left in the period, but thanks to another Matt Bissonnette goal, the Storm were able to seal a convincing 6-3 come back win!

The Storm now look ahead to a difficult away weekend, as they head to Scotland on our “triple header”, where we will face the Braehead Clan (Friday), the Fife Flyers (Saturday), and the Edinburgh Capitals (Sunday.

Following this, the Storm will next be at home on Saturday the 28th of January at 7pm. Tickets can be ordered online, by calling the box office on 0161 926 8782, or in person at the box office!
