The Panthers, who have already qualified for the next round of the cup, saw the Storm take an early lead, when Mark Heatley launched a laser beam of a shot over the shoulder of Pacl in the Panthers net, to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Despite the Panthers best efforts, the Storm continued to deny them at every chance. The first came to a close with fists flying as Darian Dziurzynski & Robert Farmer of the Panthers coming to blows that saw the Storm player dominate proceedings.

The second period started much better for the visitors, as Carter was able to to squeeze the puck between Mike Clemente and the post for the Panthers opening goal. This was followed later in the period by a second Panthers goal, when Farmer was able to put the Panthers ahead, pouncing on a loose puck and going over the shoulder of the Storms keeper. However, the Storm continued to play the best they had all weekend, and were able to pull things level when Darian Dziurzynski, that man again, on a 5-on-3 power play, slotted home to send the Shelter wild.

A period of end to end hockey ensued in the third, with both sides going close, with the Panther goalie being the busier of the two goalies and made some tremendous quick glove saves to deny the Storm. The teams played the period out to a 2-2 draw, meaning 3-on-3 sudden death “Over Time”!

Over-Time saw the puck go from one end to another, with the Storm again looking the more likely to score as every attack dangerous with every break. Despite this, the Panthers were able to hold firm and after 5 minutes of over time, the game went to penalty shots, where Kalus was able to slot home for the Panthers, giving them the second point on the night.

Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm look toward next weekend now, with a home clash against the Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday (F/O 7PM) and a trip to the Dundee Stars on Sunday.
