TICKETS: The Go Goodwin’s Manchester Storm are back in home action this SATURDAY & SUNDAY (19th & 20th November), as we take on the Braehead Clan & the Fife Flyers respectively, here at the Storm Shelter. Your Go Goodwin Manchester Storm were caught on the receiving end of a pumped up visiting Braehead Clan side, who skated away from the Storm Shelter with the 2 points following a 5-2 victory against an under strength Storm side who were missing key forwards Dzyirzinski, Valcak and Harding from the lineup due to ongoing injuries.

The first started out fast and furious, with both teams chasing the puck for large portions of the period. Kyle Wharton was able to put the visiting Clan on the board first, when he beat Clemente in the Storm net, much to the delight of the noisy visiting fans. Minutes later however, it was the Storm Shelter crowd that took to its feet, when Player/Coach Omar Pacha blasted home, beating Gary Russell in the Clans net. The period ended much like it started, with the team going end to end chasing the puck.

The Braehead Clans Matt Haywood grabbed the only goal in the second period, a result of a breakaway following a Clan penalty kill. The Storm continued to push hard for the the equaliser, but for that period at least, the struggle was in vain.

Things went from bad to worse for the Storm in the third, when the Braehead Clan were able to bag not one, not two, but three goals in a row, two of which came from Alex Leavitt, and the other from Scott Pitt. Despite being 5-1 down, the Storm never gave up and continued to seek out that elusive 2nd goal. Minutes from the end of the 3rd, the Storm scored their second, and last of the night, when Taylor Dickin slid the puck in between the 5 hole of Russell.

The Storm look to turn things around tomorrow, when we head to the Cardiff Devils for the final group game of the Challenge Cup. Following the Nottingham Panthers 2-1 victory over the Coventry Blaze, Storm are already guaranteed a spot in the 1/4 final for a second consecutive year, so this game is all about where we will be seeded – with 3rd or 4th in the group up for grabs! It would appear that following a bad eye injury picked up during play this evening, that Eric Neilson will also be out of tomorrows lineup.
