Your Go Goodwins Manchester Storm are back in the Storm Shelter this Friday 11th November for a 7:30 pm faceoff as we take on the Dundee Stars in Elite League Action.

At this early stage of the season, the Stars are currently sitting 4th in the Gardiner Conference, with 4 points from 5 games, and 10th in the Elite League with 7 points from 11 games. The Stars are coming off the back of a strong weekend, taking the Cardiff Devils to penalty shots last Saturday before a 4-0 victory over the Sheffield Steelers on Sunday. Saturday’s point came thanks to goals from Poulin, Sides, and Bruijsten, whilst former Storm forward, Vinny Scarsella, netted himself a double, plus a goal apiece from Hart and Switzer secured both points on the Sunday. Netminder Joe Fallon turned away 71 of 75 shots over the weekend.

The Storm sit top of the Gardiner Conference, with 9 points from 8 games. Last Saturday’s home victory over the Nottingham Panthers sees Manchester in 6th position in the Elite League, gaining 12 points from 11 games. Goals from Bissonnette, Cartier, and a Dickin double secured the points for the Storm, whilst Clemente made 23 saves in the Storm net. Manchester then travelled to Coventry, where they went down 3-0 in the Challenge Cup, injuries severely hampering the Storm’s chances. Storm will be without Dziurzynski, Harding & Valcak this weekend, but do welcome new short term signing, Dutch International forward, Nardo Nagtzaam, to the lineup!

This game is the first trip of the season to the Storm Shelter for the Stars, the only previous match up between the two teams resulted in a 3-2 victory for Dundee at the DIA in mid-October. Goals from Trevor Johnson and Paul Phillips were not enough for the Storm, as Lidhammer, White, and Traversa secured the points. Joe Fallon and Mike Clemente were on good form during the game, turning away 33 and 28 shots, respectively.

Dundee coach Marc Lefebvre describes the Gardiner Conference as ‘32 playoff games’, as the teams battle it out for qualification to the postseason playoffs and the chance to earn some silverware. Every point is vital in the playoff and league title chase, with only 2 points separating 2nd and 6th in the Elite League.

ONE TO WATCH: Defenceman Kevin Hart is the second highest goalscorer for the Dundee Stars in the Elite League, scoring 4 and assisting 4 in 11 games. The 25 yr-old from Cumberland, Maine, spent last year acclimatising to Dundee and the Elite League, and is only a few goals short of the 7 he scored last season.
