Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are back on home ice this Saturday in another huge game against the Dundee Stars, facing off at 7:00 pm.

The playoff push continues for both teams, and it’s getting extremely tight in the chase for the final 2 playoff spots. Storm find themselves on 41 points from 49 games, 1 point and 1 place behind the Coventry Blaze, while the Dundee Stars sit in 7th place. It’s the only game of the weekend for the Storm, while the Stars faced off against the Nottingham Panthers on Friday night. The Panthers might have a big say in the final playoff placings, as they have 2 more games against both the Storm and the 10th-placed Capitals before the season is out.

Storm – Stars stats this year: It’s the final meeting of the season between the two sides, and the Stars have had the upperhand so far, winning 5 games to Storm’s 2. Both Storm’s victories have come at the Storm Shelter, winning games 4-1 and 4-2 in December and January, respectively. The first meeting at Altrincham needed a shootout to separate the sides, with the Stars coming out on top 3-2. Special teams have been key during the games this year, with 11 goals coming on the powerplay. Storm have scored 4 goals from 25 powerplay opportunities, a conversion rate of 16.0%, while the Stars have 7 goals from 31 powerplay chances, a 22.6% powerplay percentage. Darian Dziurzynski and Paul Phillips continued their good scoring form against the Stars last weekend, both players have 6 points from their 6 appearances against Dundee. Both players have 2 goals and 4 assists against the Stars, and are the Storm’s top point scorers against the Stars. Kevin Bruijsten has top scored for the Stars against Manchester, with 4 goals and 7 assists from 6 games.

Battle of the netminders: Both sides have strong netminding, that gives them a chance to win every night. Mike Clemente got his third shutout of the regular season last weekend in the 4-0 victory over the Capitals. His save percentage is currently 91.0%, which is slightly ahead of Dundee’s Joe Fallon who is sitting slightly under 90%. Fallon also has 3 shutouts this season.

One to watch: Kevin Bruijsten always seems to find a way to get points against the Storm. He’s grabbed 11 points in his 6 matches against the Storm and has been a consistent performer for the Stars.
