TICKETS: The Go Goodwin’s Manchester Storm are back in action this Saturday 29th October, as we take on the Cardiff Devils here at the Storm Shelter. Face off is at 7pm and tickets can be ordered online or by calling the box office on 0161 926 8782, or in person at the box office.

The Cardiff Devils are the visitors to the Storm Shelter this Saturday 29th October, facing off against the Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm in Elite League action at 7:00 pm.

Cardiff come into this weekend on the back of winning their previous 4 league games, and find themselves at the top of the league standings with 15 points from 9 games. Recently, they’ve been missing their number 1 netminder Ben Bowns through injury and have relied on backup Tom Murdy to keep the opposition forwards at bay. Bowns is expected to be back between the pipes this evening for the Devils.

This matchup sees two of the league’s best powerplay units go head-to-head. Cardiff are top of the PP rankings, converting on 27.5% of their powerplay chances. In comparison, the Storm sit at a 23.33% conversion rate and find themselves ranked 3rd in the league rankings almost 5% better than the Fife Flyers who are 4th. Both teams will be looking to make the most of their powerplay chances this weekend.

Both teams picked up maximum points from last weekend’s games. Cardiff faced Edinburgh last Saturday, coming out 5-2 victors thanks to goals from Fournier, Lord, Morissette, and Martin. The Storm went one better on Sunday with a 6-2 victory over Edinburgh, including a hattrick for Cody Cartier, along with a 5-point game from both Valcak and Cartier. Cardiff faced rivals Coventry Blaze on Sunday, winning 3-2 on overtime. Goals from Haddad, Martin, and Asselin rounding off a 4-point weekend for the Devils.

The last time the two sides met was in Challenge Cup action in early September. Dziurzynski, Trabucco, and Bissonnette scored to secure a 4-2 victory for the Storm, with Mike Clemente saving 43 of 45 shots.

Don’t forget to dress up in your spookiest Halloween outfit this weekend, as the Storm hold a Halloween costume contest.

One to watch: Despite taking a year out from hockey last season, Patrick Asselin has adapted to the Elite League very quickly. He got the game-winning goal last weekend against Coventry, and is currently sitting on 10 points from 9 games.
